Tet in the eyes of foreigners
While some foreigners left Vietnam for romantic beaches in
Thailand or Bali during the lunar New Year holiday, many stayed in the country
to welcome the traditional Tet.

Free visit to Ha Long Bay during Tet
All domestic and foreign tourists will have the chance to visit
Ha Long Bay without fees during the traditional Lunar New Year festival (Tet)
from January 23 to February 5.

Entry to all sites at Ha Long Bay in the northern province of
Quang Ninh will be free of charge during the lunar New Year (Tet) holiday, from
Jan. 23 to Feb. 5, the provincial People’s Committee said on Jan. 20.

VNAT proposes Halong Bay ticket price rise freeze
Local tourism authorities have called for the northern province
of Quang Ninh to postpone their anticipated 50%-100% ticket price increase for
tourists visiting Halong Bay.
Since the tourist attraction was nominated as one of the temporary seven new
wonders of the world, the price increase has been on the cards.

Ha Long listed among world’s best travel destinations
The UNESCO World Natural Heritage Ha Long Bay in the northen
province of Quang Ninh, has been included in the 2011 list of the world’s best
destinations for hotels, family vacations, beaches, and food by the prestigious
online travel website Tripadvisor.

Spain helps improve Vietnam’s tourism capacity
Foreign visitors to Ha Long Bay - a World Heritage site in
Vietnam
The Spanish government will provide 400,000 euros in non-refundable aid for a
project to help Vietnam raise the capacity of its tourism sector from now until
2020, with a vision for 2030.
Spanish Ambassador to Vietnam Fernando Curcio Ruigomez and Vietnamese Deputy
Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, Ho Anh Tuan, signed an agreement to
this effect in Hanoi on November 29.

Pricey fares ground domestic air travel
High air fares are cramping the domestic tourism sector,
according to tourism businesses.
"Tourism will be strongly affected by higher transportation costs as transport
on average accounts for up to 70 per cent of a tour's price," said Nguyen Van
Luat, director of the Phuong Bac Tourism and Advertisement Joint Stock Co.
