Hi Thao,
I was sorry that we didn't meet you, but hope that you are feeling
better.
Scott and I had a fantastic trip! Thanks to you and your excellent
planning and organizing the trip was perfect! I'm happy to provide you
with some comments and overall feedback.
- HCMC - Grand Hotel: excellent location and nice, large, clean room
with fresh fruit in room. City tour was really good. Lunch was OK but
the restaurant did not have any other people in it - although the view
was nice.
- Our guide Huong was really nice, well organized and knowledgable. We
really liked her.
- Golf Can Tho Hotel: nice room, but hotel lacked character and charm.
Breakfast was OK but not great. Good central location though. Pool was
not heated and very very cold!
- Mekong Delta: Huong was really well organized and took us to some
really interesting places on our boat tours - enjoyed seeing the rice
husking facility and where they make rice paper and coconut candies.
Lunch both days was superb!
- Danang - Thung was a fantastic guide. His English was really good and
he really went out of his way to show us some interesting sites. We had
a lot of fun with him.
- Hoi An - absolutely LOVED the Hoi An Beach Resort. The room and
bathroom was amazing as well the pool, gardens and restaurant were
amazing. Right across the street from the beach. Lovely place to stay.
- Hoi An - bicycle tour was excellent. A great way to see the city and
Tung brought us to a place to get clothes made - we both had a suit made
which fits to perfection!
- Hoi An - cooking class was at a very interesting location - very
authentic experience to tour the vegetable garden first and then do some
cooking. I would have loved to also receive copies of the recipes. Tung
doesn't know how to cook and the chef couldn't speak English so I think
I missed out a little bit on understanding what the ingredients were.
But, the food was delicious and the location was very nice.
- Hue - city tour was fantastic - Thung was very knowledgable and showed
us some really interesting Imperial Tombs. We loved Hue. La Residence
was unbelievable! Food, pool, room and gardens were out of this world!
- Danang - Hue: this drive was definitely a highlight of the trip. Thank
you Mr. Linh for being such a safe and confident driver. We felt very
safe through all of the foggy and winding roads.
- Hanoi: Zephyr hotel was great. Nice clean room and good breakfast with
really nice location at Hoan Kiem Lake. Water Puppet Show was excellent.
And, we enjoyed having a free day to enjoy on our own.
- Sapa: Tulico train sleeper was fine on the way there, but on the way
back the air conditioner broke down in the middle of the night and the
cabins were so hot it was difficult to breath. I spent most of the night
standing in the hallway because I couldn't breath, but the train staff
tried to fix the problem but it was broken and there was nothing they
could do.
- Sapa: Thung was a really good guide. He's very sweet and really went
out of his to ensure that all of our needs were take care of. The
Victoria Hotel was beautiful but they only gave us a twin room (with two
twin beds) even though we had booked a double. They told us there was
nothing they could do because there were no more rooms left. It was very
disappointing to have paid so much money for the room and I had to sleep
in a separate bed from my husband! But, the pool and restaurant and
views were really good.
- Sapa: the two days of trekking were excellent. We had really yummy
picnic lunches and saw the most amazing sights and people. Sapa was our
favourite part of the entire trip. It's a very special place. Thung even
found a place where we could play ping pong together - since we had
expressed interest in doing this. He's such a nice guy.
- Halong Bay: The Phoenix Cruiser was a very nice and clean boat and we
had a nice room. We did end up in a storm that afternoon and our
bathroom was leaking water from the lights in the ceiling and one of the
public toilets exploded. But, after the storm settled the leaking
stopped. The meals were good - lunch and dinner was very generous while
breakfast was not good. Soggy bread, one egg each and undercooked bacon.
The crew were very nice and looked after the guests well. Cave tour was
interesting.
- Hanoi: loved
