Bac Ha holds annual horse race

More than 60 amateur jockeys from 11 communes in Bac Ha district, northern Lao Cai province, attended the 2010 horse race in the district’s stadium on June 19. After 3 hours of fierce competition, the organising board presented a cash prize of VND20 million to the winner, Ly Seo Ao, from Ban Pho commune. Thao Seo Phu from Ta Van Chu commune was the runner up, and Vang Van Huynh from Na Hoi commune was third.
The horse race is an annual tourism event held jointly by the three mountainous provinces of Lao Cai, Yen Bai and Phu Tho.
There was also a cultural event to celebrate the horse race and the signing ceremony for 2010-2015 tourism cooperation between 8 northern mountainous provinces the day before.
