Kien Giang attracts nearly 900,000 tourists
Nearly 900,000 tourists visited the Southern
province of Kien Giang in the first four months this year, with the major
destinations being Ha Tien Town, Kien Giang District and Phu Quoc Island.
From mid-April, almost all hotels and motels in Phu Quoc were full and some tour
groups missed their tours to the island during the month-end holidays.
Although the national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines added more flights from Ho
Chi Minh City and Rach Gia to Phu Quoc and some flights were also opened between
Can Tho, Rach Gia and Phu Quoc; travel demand has not yet been met.
However, from April 29th to May 2nd, Phu Quoc Island still welcomed more than
4,500 tourists from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and other southern provinces.
The island attracted nearly 75,000 tourists since early this year, 75% of them
are foreigners.
