Prevent “bad phenomena” at festivals
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has
ordered provincial departments of culture to control upcoming festivals to
prevent damage from unsavory elements and events.
Many pilgrims throw money from Yen Tu mountain to wish for luck. Local kids take
dangerous risks to collect the money.
The Ministry asked departments of culture, sports and tourism to manage
festivals more strictly in order to prevent negative phenomena, punish violators
and take strong steps to prevent visitors from spreading small money through
pagodas and relics.
Popular festivals are usual subject to problems like poor security, overpriced
services, disguised gambling, begging, and superstitious practices.
