Da Lat recognised as city of flower festivals

The government has named Da Lat the "City of the Flower Festivals" as the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong is hosting a flower festival starting next Thursday. Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung has asked Lam Dong Province to work with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and related agencies to organise the Da Lat Flower Festival next year to celebrate the 1,000th anniversary of capital Ha Noi.
The city grows 2,000ha of flowers of all kinds, yielding around 800 million cut flowers annually. Da Lat flowers are exported to many countries. The city organised two flower festivals in 2005 and 2007, attracting many foreign and local visitors.
