Korean handicrafts on display in Hanoi
Some 100 hand-made cloths handicrafts from South
Korea are on display at the “Praying and Blessing” exhibition in Hanoi.
The works, all of which are sewn, pleated and embroidered to symbolize various
prayers and blessings, are used in traditional rites of passage ceremonies at
weddings and births.
The meanings of the crafts are implied in their colors, symbols and decorations.
Included are children’s clothes for their first birthday, brides cushions and
wedding cloths. They all represent wishes of happiness, good health, longevity,
prosperity and good luck.
The 15-day exhibition, co-organized by the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology and the
Korea Cultural Heritage Foundation, remains open to public at the museum until
Sunday.
