International folk games introduced at Vietnam Museum of Ethnology
A wide variety of traditional folk games from different countries
will be introduced at the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology on May 26-27 as part of
activities to mark International Children’s Day.
In joining the program, children will have a chance to enjoy the folk games of
Viet Nam and other countries, such as hopscotch (India, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, and
Viet Nam), mandarin square capturing (Indonesia, Thailand, and Viet Nam), and
Capture the Flag (Cambodia, Thailand, and Viet Nam).
The program will be led by foreign students who are studying in Viet Nam.
Through the games, children will discover some of the differences and
similarities between the games of Viet Nam and other countries. It will offer
them an opportunity to gain a better insight into the traditional cultures of
Viet Nam and regional countries to encourage a respect of their cultural
heritages..
