ASEAN Tourism Committee Meetings 2016 kick off

On 4 April 2016, the ASEAN Tourism Committee Meetings 2016 was launched in Quang Ninh Province, Viet Nam with the participation of approximately 70 international delegates from national tourism authorities and international organizations in ASEAN region.
From 4-5 April, the meetings took place with two workshops on ”Opportunities, potentials and challenges of implementing the ASEAN Mutual Recognition Arrangement on Tourism Professionals (MRA-TP)” and “Improving the ASEAN tourism competitiveness”.
In the framework of the meetings, on late 4 April, Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) hosted a dinner reception to welcome all delegates attending the meetings. In his speech, Deputy Director General of VNAT. Mr. Ha Van Sieu expressed his delight at the presence of all guests and hoped that the meetings’ outcomes would be soon implemented through concrete cooperation projects on promotion activities, travel facilitation, human resource training and development programs, tourism investment cooperation which contribute to strengthening cultural exchange, mutual understanding, friendship and comprehensive cooperation among ASEAN member countries.
At the dinner reception, the guests had chance to enjoy Vietnamese traditional dances and folk songs – one of the unique features creating the attractiveness of Viet Nam tourism to international tourists.
As scheduled, on 6 April, the delegates will continue to discuss on “ASEAN sustainable and inclusive tourism development” and “ASEAN tourism resourcing, monitoring and evaluation”; and tour Ha Long Bay on 7 April.
