Website for National Tourism Year 2016 launched

Vibrant activities and significant events scheduled during the 2016 National Tourism Year will be introduced through the website http://namdulichquocgia2016.vn, which was launched by the Kien Giang Provincial Department of Information and Communication on January 15th.
The website will help popularise the 2016 National Tourism Year with tangible and intangible cultural values and special tourism products in Kien Giang province, the Mekong Delta region and other localities nationwide.
In addition, it will promote tourism in the country in general and in the Mekong Delta region and Kien Giang province in particular, of which Phu Quoc Island is expected to become a national and global tourism centre, making contributions to the local socio-economy.
Kien Giang province will host the tourism year with a theme of “Explore the Southern Land”. It is a large-scale cultural, economic and social event, aiming to attract domestic and foreign tourists.
The province recently held a ceremony to commemorate the 54th death anniversary of heroine Phan Thi Rang at the Ba Hon historical relic site as part of activities organised during the event.
With 12 provinces and one centrally run city, the Mekong Delta is considered the country’s biggest region for rice and fruit production. Particularly, Kien Giang Province is home to many popular tourist sites such as U Minh Thuong National Park, the Giant Buddha Pagoda and Phu Quoc Island./.
