Vietnamese culture introduced in Russia

Radio the Voice of Russia ran coverage on a Vietnamese cultural
and tourism festival held recently in Vladivostok.
The three-day festival included a seminar on Vietnam’s tourism potential, an
exchange between Vladivostok and Vietnamese tour operators, a concert and an
exhibition of photographs featuring the beauty of Vietnam and its people.
The event attracted a lot of attention from Vietnamese people living in Russia
as well as international friends.
Thousands of overseas Vietnamese are currently living and working in Vladivostok
where the Vietnamese language is being taught at higher education institutions.
Many university graduates who studied in Vladivostok have successfully used
their learnt knowledge in Vietnam, and local people are also regular travelers
to the Southeast Asian country.
Vladivostok launched a maritime route to Vietnam in the 1950s to transport food,
ammunition, medicines and industrial goods to Vietnamese people during wartime.
Currently, the local administration is considering opening a Vietnamese light
industry zone and allowing Vietnamese nationals to work at local garment and
footwear workshops.
