More than 120,000 visitors flock to Con Son – Kiep Bac

During the Con Son – Kiep Bac Autumn Festival 2011, the Kiep Bac
Temple relic area in Hung Dao Commune welcomed 10,000-30,000 visitors per day,
reported the Hai Duong Provincial Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism.
After the five-day festival, from September 13 to 17, more than 120,000 visitors
had flocked to the relic area.
The festival commemorates the 711th anniversary of the death of national hero
Tran Hung Dao, Tran Quoc Tuan King and the 569th anniversary of the death of
Nguyen Trai – the national hero and world cultural figure.
The festival showcased many cultural, sporting and entertainment activities,
including wrestling, cock fighting, Chinese chess, sailing, martial arts
performances with sticks and water puppetry. The Quan Ho folk songs augment the
identity of the traditional cultural festival.
This year, the organising board of the festival offered free tickets for the
elderly, pupils, soldiers and wounded soldiers.
The Con Son – Kiep Bac Autumn Festival 2011 with the theme toward sea and
islands aims to reenact the glorious feat of arms of the army and people of Dai
Viet during the 13th century with the significance of educating the patriotic
tradition of the nation, contributing to firmly defending the country's
sovereignty over sea and islands.
